Greg’s gym class stopping by a water well on one of many hiking adventures.

Greg’s 2024 gym class is based on health and exercising your body. Greg began his career as a teacher in 1999 in Bridgeport CT. He started by teaching students to swim. He said, “I loved to teach kids how to swim because there were kids to teach. “He also got a water safety instructor license. He explained, “The WSI helped me get hired and become a gym teacher.”

For Greg’s gym class, he always changes the options for the class so we are not bored. He takes us to different hiking trails. Greg also makes our class work on our endurance going up the hills. This helps build endurance. We need to slowly feel comfortable going up hills.

Our gym class also goes to Rogers Park. He teaches us to play pickleball and the rules and names of the pickleball court. Greg always tries his best to make other students want to join and be a part of his class. He gives us one freebie just in case we are unprepared for class without our sneakers.

Overall, Greg feels that the 2024 Gym class was the best out of all his teaching years. We’ve all explored different hiked trails, learned how to use weights, and pickle balls, and learned how to count our pulse. One of the students in gym class Emily Reinoso says, “My favorite part of the gym is that we get to interact and get to know each other in gym class.” Also, Andres Torres says, “My favorite part of gym is going on hikes and haing fun.”

We all thank Greg for his classes and how he is making all of us ACEStrong!
