About
The Alternative Times is the monthly newsletter and online news site published by the Journalism students at the Alternative Center for Excellence in Danbury CT. This is where you will find all the articles that are being written for the school. As news stories take place, we will use this website to write our initial drafts and then our revisions.
Please feel free to comment and add suggestions for this news website. We especially would like feedback from our ACE Alumni and family.
The online news platform is provided free to its readers. The platform service and maintenance is provided — through annual contract — by SNO Sites, Burnsville, MN. We are a member of the New England Scholastic Press Association.
Op-eds, columns and guest commentaries are the expressed opinions of the author and not of acealternativetimes.com and its editors or its adviser. Unsigned editorials, however, are the expressed opinion of the newspaper’s position on a matter. Furthermore, the opinions conveyed are not those of the Danbury Public Schools, faculty, administration or school board.
Mission Statement
To gather, write, and disseminate in a fair and objective manner the happenings at ACE and the Danbury CT community.
Advertising/Donation Policy
The platform operates independent of the Board of Education and the school administration. We receive no taxpayer money to operate. The sale of advertisements and the receipt of donations are what keeps the newspaper in operation, as there are costs associated with running the website. Inquiries should be directed to adviser Joanne Tolles at [email protected]. We thank the community for its support.
Letters to the Editor Policy
We welcome and encourage discourse from our readers. Letters must include the writer’s full name, signature, and class or position. Letters should be emailed to [email protected].
Acealternativetimes.com will not print anything deemed libelous, obscene, or poor in taste in accordance with the Supreme Court’s justified standards. Rights are reserved to postpone, edit or withhold from publication anything submitted that does not meet the specifications. The meaning of any submission will not be altered, but we reserve the right to correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, and reduce wordiness.
Additionally, acealternativetimes.com will not print criticism that is not supported by facts.
Comments on Articles
This being the web, we do allow anonymous comments to our articles, but encourage users to register their full names. We reserve the right not to approve their publication if they are uncivil, disrespectful or off topic.
Article Submissions
We encourage our readers to submit articles and photographs for the website. Please contact us first through [email protected] to pitch the piece or photograph. We reserve the right to edit submissions for clarity and length, and to reject submissions that do not meet our standards.
