ACE Valentine’s Day

Kindness Buckets

ACE’s Bulletin Board on display shows acts of kindness and gratitude.

The month of February’s affection and energy fills the air with a loving time of appreciation, even with Valentine’s Day being on February 14th. Here at ACE, we have many ways of showing our gratitude to one another. ACE enjoys coming up with activities everyone can participate in so we can show our appreciation to anyone.

For February, Valentine’s Day, ACE had teachers and their guidance groups write notes of appreciation to anyone in the building who has shown them kindness and they were all collected in the buckets, which could also be found anywhere around the school. This activity was brought to life by Laura, Daniela, and even the people who helped make and put up decorations.

Though ACE is a small school, over one hundred people participated and made someone else’s day better because whoever you wrote about, received the letter of appreciation.

Laura says, “It puts me in a better mood seeing all the kindness recognized by students.” Interviewing Daniela, we gathered her opinion on how we can make Buckets of Kindness better in the future. Daniela said,” We should use guidance teachers to help more students feel appreciated and get included, this should not be just for February.” Including the teachers in these activities, we’re able to show them a bit of gratitude for the things they do for us.

My name is Angelina but I go by Angie most of the time.  I am new to ACE, my first and last year here. I am 18 and of course the best zodiac sign. A leo!! I am a very hands-on type of person. I love to paint, listen to music to the point I can't hear anybody, hangout with friends and just make the best out of what's given to me with a smile on my face. It wasn't always rainbows and sunshine though. I used to live in Queens, New York with my mom and just a few years ago I moved in with my dad. I noticed when I first moved to Connecticut I had no motivation and had given up on myself. I won't go into detail about it but it was definitely rough. Later I found something that became my escape from reality. Which is painting, it helps calm me down and see the painting come to life overtime through different strokes of color. After high school I have had my mind set on becoming a beauty specialist, specializing in hair and nails and maybe even makeup down that line. I want to start my own business for these things and attend cosmetology school to get the practice I need and my license. I plan on opening a business close to clients but not directly around where I live. Lately, I have been finding courage to get up and do things and find my interest in other things. My aunt is a hairdresser and maybe that's where I get my love for cosmetology from. As everyone wants to be successful in life as do I, I plan on going big with my business and someday get to see it come all together. I also want to say that coming to ACE was definitely one of the best decisions I made in my life. This school helped me open my eyes a lot and made me realize how much better I could be if I just put in that extra effort.
