ACE IS A PLACE TO SHINE
By Dave Canavan

A few years ago a student moved from Texas to Danbury. Danbury High was bigger than the town where he had grown up, so he came to the Alternative Center because it was smaller.

Two years ago an ACE graduate earned a 3.94 GPA at Western Connecticut. As a result of her success her student loans were forgiven.

Last year an ACE graduate won a 4 year scholarship to Western awarded by the Rotary Club.

This year ACE met the proficiency standard set by the State Department of Education and measured by CAPT.

In the past two years ACE has received over a quarter of a million dollars in grants and gifts primarily for technology. There are three full labs and teachers and students are enjoying the benefits that technology brings to learning. The technology potential is huge.

ACE is a place to shine. The dedication of the staff and the size of the school help to create a unique learning environment. Focus on individual goals and concerns is at the heart of our program. The relationships that are created between teachers and students and students with other students have been the foundation for growth. The contributions that students make to the ACE learning community and the greater Danbury community are indicators of our success. For almost 30 years and for over 800 students and their families ACE has been a place to shine.
