The Stock Trip

ACE students enjoy a day at UCONN attending a Stock Market simulation.

On Thursday the fourteenth, students at ACE were taken on a trip to a well-known college by Ashlee and DJ. Thanks to Ashlee’s collaboration with Junior Achievement, she was invited to take students from ACE to UCONN in Stamford. The students who attended the trip got to experience how people from other schools were working to improve their future. The students were able to get a glimpse of how to properly manage the stock market and their future finances with an active simulation from some of the students attending UCONN. The simulation allowed ACE students to create a group stock portfolio where they could buy and trade their stocks. Ashlee says,” They were able to learn when to sell and when not to sell their stocks, and what to invest in.” The students enjoyed this activity even more because the top three groups who were able to gain more stocks won prizes. ACE provides trips like this one for the benefit of each and every one of its students so that they can have a better future.

Having had a successful stock trip the previous year, ACE decided to take the trip again this year. This year’s trip was another successful trip, so Ashlee hopes to take this trip again for years to come.

Students at ACE were able to learn all about the trip before attending by signing up for Ashlee’s flex periods. DJ says, “Next year we hope more students attend when the option is given to students in Personal Finance.” Though it was a learning experience, all the students who attended had much fun participating in the activities. ACE continues to take trips like these to help students gain more knowledge and experience from the outside world.

Though ACE is a small school, our need for learning expands anywhere and anywhere, so ACE hopes we can take more trips like this in the future.
