A cozy comfy setting to journal

Why do we write? How does one let their feelings out without actually talking to someone? Just letting your thoughts flow and putting it all together is something. Whether you like typing or physically writing it can make a difference. It can help you mentally and in many other aspects as well.

Beginners

Doesn’t matter where you are in life and how old you are, you can start writing and journaling at any age. Starting as a kid, diaries are very useful and open the ideas of writing. Start by recording how your day went and how you got through it. This can help students, kids, parents, and anyone just ease their minds. Or you can just write whatever your heart desires, like a story, poem, or just any journal entry.

Benefits

Even if you don’t think you’d like writing there are many benefits that might give you a change of mind. To start as a younger student just physically writing anything is very beneficial for developing learning skills and giving a boost to becoming a better writer. But as you grow older it can help reduce mental stress just by writing down your thoughts and feelings, which can feel therapeutic in a relaxed setting. It can also help you develop more creativity even if you aren’t a free writer, it can help you get over emotional blocks. With enhanced creativity it can deepen your critical thinking which keeps your brain sharp. Also just writing down your goals and plans makes it more likely for you to achieve them.

In a peaceful setting where if you are experiencing writer’s block it can help.

Types of writing

Even if you don’t think you’d like to write, there are so many different styles that it might change your mind. If you don’t like to write journals or anything personal you can try creative writing. Which is a style of writing where the author is expected to break free from the shackles of already existing writing structures. So if you’re feeling stuck on how and what to write, just start with whatever comes to mind first since there are no boundaries. Most people who already write like to try poetry just for fun, but it can also be a good start for someone new. You get to play around with words, imagery, and sensory language, and it also doesn’t have to be long to be good. Or if you feel really passionate about something and you want to inform other people and write about it which can be expository writing. Usually, the author is interested in describing something for informational purposes, and they are mostly nonfiction. Overall whether you are a beginner or an experienced writer there are still lots of techniques to try and maybe find one that works and sticks best to you.
