No matter how old we become we still have the tendency to put things off to the last minute. For high school students who are progressing through their final four school years of their life, the idea of college lurks amongst them. Entering a good college and determining the rest of your life weighs heavily on the mind. The last minute is no longer dependable and shouldn’t be dependable while applying for college.

Applying for college may be a pain. Luckily for students at ACE we have a determined teacher who dedicates her time to help students get what they need for college. Dianna Dinardo has devoted her time and career to encourage students to continue their education after high school. Dianna started off as a special education teacher later evolving to what she is today. “I decided to become a school counselor after working as a special education teacher because I spent a lot of my day helping students with their personal issues and their goals.” She thinks college is a great opportunity for students to expand their knowledge. “I think college is a good choice for many students because it gives them a chance to expand their horizon, develop their skills, and receive a higher level of education.”

Dianna is also aware of the hassle students go through trying to enter college. “Students should start the college application process in their junior year by researching colleges and universities, taking the SAT/ACT tests, and discussing financial plans to narrow down their school choice to about three to five schools.”

She believes by collecting information junior year then the hassle is less on the student who becomes a senior and trying to put everything together at the last minute. “I am always willing to help with the college process because I know it can be overwhelming at times, but I also know the end result is worth every ounce of energy that is invested throughout the process.” Dianna recommends that college should be attended after high school due to the success it can bring towards one’s life. The graduating students at ACE thank Dianna for all her work and patience in guiding them through the final year of high school.
