CAPT at ACE by Ryan Santos

The CAPT test is a stressful time on almost all teachers and students, but at ACE, they try and ease up the pressure. At ACE, the CAPT. test was scheduled to be done on Tuesday, Wendsday, and Thursday for  two weeks, with two tests each day. After the first test, students were given a 15-minute break and the option to get hot chocolate provided by the school. Then it was back to work.

ACE had a very good turnout with students complying with the test. The school seemed to be at normal attendance all week. Even students who were not taking the test showed up for school and were assigned work. At Danbury High School, I remember a lot of students skipping school the day of the tests. That was definitely not the case at ACE.

Since the students at ACE did an exceptional job with the CAPT, the school planned a trip to the Danbury Ice Rink. Students who paid a small fee would be allowed to go to the ice rink from 11oclock until the end of the day.     Even if students didn’t go on the trip, they were allowed to stay behind and do any work they had to make up. “ The time they gave us to make up work while kids were at the ice rink really helped me get caught up on a few things,” said senior Amandaly Vasquez.

Over 30 students participated in the trip and had a lot of fun. “ The ice skating trip was fun because it got everybody together and let us relax,” said Junior Luis Martins. “We should have something like that more often.”

I think that ACE handled the CAPT week well and gave their students good motivation to be at school everyday, regardless if the had to take the test or not. ACE always has had a good turn out for the CAPT test, and this year was no different.
