DJ’s Business Trip

If you are a future business owner, you should read this article.

DJ, A social worker here at Alternative Center for  Excellence in Danbury CT, took a small group of students to West Conn’s midtown campus for the Unity in Business Black Owned Expo.

The expo is sponsored by the WCSU Dining, Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Intercultural Affairs Office. It welcomes all to attend, and provides African American-owned businesses, student organizations, and vendors with an opportunity to showcase their products or services to the students on campus.

The event mostly comprised of Black-owned businesses and other minority-owned businesses who share their creativity and ideas to inspire future business owners. Scheduled during Black History Month, it helps to celebrate Black culture, strength, and the hard work that goes into running a business. It helps people connect and get noticed around campus.

One of the students who attended the event, Vivian Rodriguez, mentioned that “the environment was very inclusive. The hosts of the event were very welcoming, outgoing, and had games along with prizes.”

Rakesh Romero, shares that “The food was on fire, and it was a good time.”

Good food always stands out to students, but more important than the food, students found that the event was well organized, inspirational and overall a good experience.
