Pilobolus Comes to ACE

Pilobolus, an American dance company that travels the world, has come to ACE to show and teach their talents to the students. Pilobolus makes art that has come to life, with connected bodies that are twisting and turning to create a new meaning with others. They have come to ACE, on a grant, to show and teach their talents.

The introduction Pilobolus had with ACE started 15 years ago when Daniela (ACE English teacher) as she recalls “I used to work in a dance studio where my girl where my girls went, and they used it a lot which lead me to sign them up in their summer program they went to for years.”

When asking John about why Pilobolus chose ACE, he mentions the grant given to us. “I had a personal connection with someone I grew up with who now works at Pilobolus” A grant is when a person or organization funds an institution or business.

This year is the first year ACE has had the privilege of inviting Pilobolus into this school so this is new for everybody in the school. Of course, with no history in the school, it was different we are used to generations of traditions and family. So it is only right to be concerned about what the students think of this change. A conversation with Eric Gallegos 3rd year student of ACE shared his experience. “It was so funny and I had no idea what it was so I was confused, but Kyle ended up carrying me and doing everything they showed examples of. “It’s a good way to show the students how to get out of their shell and I think the nervousness with a pleasant surprise is a good life lesson for everybody to know.

We just want to say thank you to Pilobolus for giving us this chance that was never given to us before and showing the ACE community something new after so many years of loved traditions.
