Maritime Aquarium Field Trip

All+of+the+students+gathered+together+before+visiting+the+aquarium.

All of the students gathered together before visiting the aquarium.

Katja (Science Teacher) took 10 students enrolled in her chemistry class on the school van to the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk on March 1st, 2024. Katja did this to show her class how to be involved in the community as ACE teaches its students to connect with each other through experience. This is a great learning  opportunity.

The ten students and two staff from ACE traveled in the school van to Norwalk. Katja described the trip as not being stressful.  “Its always planned and it goes quick.” She also described it as one of her favorite trips as she loves seeing and showing nature.

As for the favorite part of the trip, the feelings were mixed; one student said, “It was a small group which was convenient. As well as eating out, with the trip packed with things to do, there was no boredom.”

So what was the reason for the trip? Katja has the answer to that question. “In Green Chemistry, we go into plastic which leads to where it goes.  We learn to develop an appreciation for the beauty of nature and why it needs to be kept untouched by human refuse and intrusion.” The aquarium showed us the peace and healthy environment that the earth should have.

At the end of the day, this trip is a loved tradition that is taken two times a year. it shows us the love that mother nature brings us and why we should not take advantage of it. The students get to feel the animals first and the love they project in the earth.

Thank you Katja and Diana for treating the ACE students they all appreciate you.
