School Lunch Hero Day is a national celebration dedicated to providing well-deserved recognition to school food service professionals for their role in keeping children well-fed, happy, and healthy. It was originally founded by Jarrett J. Krosoczka, back in 2013 and is celebrated nationally all over the nation on the first Friday of May each year. ACE has our own lunch lady, Dawn Falkowski, to thank. On Friday, May 5, 2023, all of ACE got together and celebrated our lunch lady hero. Stop by any cafeteria to watch school nutrition professionals prepare healthy meals for students—all the while adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating through student food allergies, and offering service with a smile—and you’ll see they are true heroes! 

Lunch staff like Dawn are our reason celebrate School Lunch Hero Day every year on the first Friday in May. This annual observance is a chance to showcase what a difference school nutrition professionals make in the lives of every child who comes through the cafeteria.
