Guidance groups had a week to decorate their classroom doors for our annual Halloween Door Decorating Contest. Prizes are given out for the groups who create the Best Door Overall, Most Boo-tiful, Most Bone Chilling, and So Funny it Could Wake the Dead. Judges include all staff members who do not have a guidance group. They view and score the doors based on Completion, Unified Theme, Creativity and Halloween Spirit.
Students put much effort into decorating their doors. The door that won most scary, or Bone Chilling, was Anthony’s group. The door impressively featured paper mache body parts locked behind a cage with pruning shears. The overall best door went to Daniela’s group who created a spooky hotel and terrifying creature that hid within the door. First place was awarded a pizza party while the runners up received candy.
Spirit week was fun with students dressing up for different themes each day. Monday was PJ’s day, Tuesday was Decades Day, Wednesday was Dress like a student or teacher day, Thursday was Halloween, so we work our Halloween costumes, and Friday was Red and Black and Anything but a Backpace Day. Overall, we had pretty good spirit for the week. It was fun to see a lot of people dressing up and we had many students participate in the Door Decorating Contest and Spirit week activities.
