At the beginning of every school year, and about once per quarter, ACE parents, students and staff come together to meet one another and learn about how their student is doing in classes. On October 1st, we came together for our first Parents’ Night of the 2024-2025 school year.
ACE is like a home for students, and parents and guardians are treated like family as well. At the meeting, all were welcomed with refreshments of donuts and coffee, and then the meeting began with the tradition of everyone introducing themselves. Teachers explained what they teach and a little bit about themselves, then parents and students introduce themselves as well.
During the meeting John talked a little about ACE history, rules, back to school forms, and what is expected from students and staff. Teachers explained upcoming events that will be happening this quarter at ACE like the school-wide benchmark day, Katja’s trip to White Memorial, The Dodge Poetry trip, and the ACE Cares project for the Praxair Cancer Center. John expressed how much he appreciated parents for taking the time out of their night to learn more about ACE and support their students, and Glenda expressed her love and support for the families in attendance by giving “Parent Survival Kit” – a lollipop with the saying “We can lick almost anything together.”
Parents and guardians then went on to personally meet with teachers and go over grades, schedules, and compliments or concerns about their students. Parents’ Night this year was well spent according to parents. They were very thankful for the donuts and coffee and the warm greeting to our ACE home. John shared a few sweet words reflecting on the night, “Our first parents night was a great opportunity to share upcoming student opportunities, communicate goals and direction for the 2024-2025 school year, as well as meet with parents and students in an effort to continue to strengthen and build our community at ACE.”-John.
