Possible haunted sites here in Connecticut make you wonder if the supernatural is real.

For those who are interested in spooky stories or want to dig deeper into the history of their town, this article may satisfy your curiosity one goose bump at a time. Among some of the oldest states in the country, Connecticut is filled with urban legends, “ghost” stories and spooky locations. Movies and documentaries have been made, based on the paranormal activity that took place in Connecticut some of which include the documentary, ‘Haunting in Connecticut’  and  the movie ‘Annabelle’ including the sequel ‘The Devil Made Me Do It’. Connecticut is known to have haunted houses, restaurants, hospitals, abandoned buildings and hotels, some which are still in use.

Ghost investigators and paranormal experts have explored Connecticut at various times. Paranormal investigators such as ‘Ghost Hunters’ and ‘Ghost Adventures’ on tv, Tony Spera and The Warrens (Ed and Lorraine) have all investigated several locations in Connecticut. Ed and Lorraine Warren lived in Connecticut and owned a paranormal museum which is now owned by Tony Spera and his wife. In this museum, several objects that are said to be haunted are kept  from each investigation they’ve ever concluded. This museum is called the “Occult Museum” and can be visited cautiously by the public. Beware as Tony Spera claims the items inside are “active and attached to spirits”. Ed and Lorraine Warren have been part of the investigation at the ‘Haunting’ in Connecticut’s house as well as the ‘Annabelle Doll’ possession. Cases dealing with possessions were accompanied by priests and usually a few other people. The possession of David Glatzel Glitch which took place in Brookfield, Ct., was investigated by the Warrens as well. This led to  the shooting of  the movie ‘The Conjuring, The Devil Made Me Do It’, which is based on actual events.

In a town  called Newtown,  an abandoned building which was once a psychiatric hospital, is one of the most visited places.  Stories are told about the abuse and torture which were visited on its patients during its active years between 1931-1995 when it closed down. Mysterious deaths and multiple suicides took place in this building which is why people claim that there is a paranormal presence there. Those who have ventured inside have said they have seen shadows roaming through the corners and voices following them.

Another location that is said to be haunted is the ‘Devil’s Hopyard’ in East Haddam. Although this park is known for its beautiful views and 60 foot waterfall, It’s here that legend says Satan himself would be seen hanging around the top of the waterfall playing  a fiddle over the rocks that surround it. This park has been around since 1919 and was originally known as Chapman Falls for the waterfall that is there. Over the decades, dark shadows and phantoms have been seen moving around the woodland. In more recent times, people have allegedly seen spirit orbs and experienced strange feelings while visiting.
