New Students At ACE By Jessica Anastasia
December 8, 2010
ACE has welcomed over 13 new students so far this semester. They came for many different reasons but most are happy to have found a “home” at the Alternative Center. The new students at ACE are Devan Dewan(Junior), Paige Vasaturo(Sophomore), Melqui Ayala(Sophomore), Catherine Greenfield(Sophomore) Aaron Ingenito(Freshman), Luis Nevarez(Sophomore), Miguel Pereira(Freshman), Devonte Perez-Quiles(Sophomore), William Pace-Hoggard(Freshman), Tara MacKinnon(Freshman), Kelly Murphy(Freshman), Jessica Pacheco(Sophomore), Vlora Jakupi(Senior), and Elvis Novas(Sophomore).
When asked why he wanted to be a part of the Alternative Center, sophomore, Luis Nevarez says he came to ACE “because I needed to graduate and I was on the wrong track at DHS.” Junior, Catherine Greenfield says she came “because I felt like I needed a fresh start with my education, I really wanted to get my grades back on track.” Freshman, Kayla Ruiz says she came “because I feel more comfortable in a smaller school.”
After being at the Alternative Center for a bit, the new students are making progress in their education. Luis says, “ACE has got me to school everyday on time.” Catherine says, “Now I actually like coming to school.” Luis says “I’ve been more focused on my work.” Aaron Ingenito and Will Pace-Hoggard, both freshmen, say that “ACE has made us better students.”
Catherine explains that her favorite part about ACE is the family atmosphere. “We can be happy individual. Everybody knows everybody and there are kind faces everywhere you turn.” Will says that his favorite part of ACE is “how small the school is and how it runs.”
And because there is always a bad side to the good, they were asked what their least favorite part about ACE was. Luis explained, “Some students can be annoying.” Catherine kindly added , “There really isn’t a bad part of ACE. I like it here.”
ACE appreciates that the new students chose to be a part of our student body. At ACE, every student counts.
