I believe that I can honestly say that people lie. I believe everyone has told at least one lie in their life. Now, what’s the point of lying? Are you doing it to save yourself, someone else, or are you doing it because you can? Some people would ask you; why lie when you can tell the truth? Well, what is the truth going to give us? What are we going to get after hearing it, or speaking it? Endless happiness, relieve, instant gratification? If only that, I think I would rather hear a lie since people are capable of coming up with some outrageous and hilarious lies.
Another question is, do we really care if someone tells us the truth or not? I can tell you right now that I don’t care. You lie to me, and then you lie to me. You give me honesty, great! It doesn’t make me a female dog, I just accept whatever you say in stride, after all, when it all comes down to it, they are just words. Though, some people don’t feel the same way that I do. Here are two differing opinions from myself. “It makes me happy to know that people trust me enough to tell me the truth,” said Ileana, a newcomer to ACE. “I would rather have the truth, because I don’t want people talking behind my back, also I don’t like two-faced people,” said Roxana.
Besides, how do we know if someone tells us the truth, or lies to us? We were not witness to anything they said. Also, you can’t accept everything a person says as the truth just because you trust them, or they’re your friend. I know from experience. I had a friend lie to me -straight to my face- this person told me the most outrageous/stupidest lie I have ever heard in my entire life, and I have heard many. When it comes to lying, some people have some common sense, and they are not hypocrites. “Well. If I lied to them first then I guess I wouldn’t care if they lied back,” said Juleesa.
Anyway, you also have to watch for signs of a person lying, or “telling you the truth.” Here are the “Top Seven” signs that someone is lying to you:
- No eye contact
- Change in voice
- Unusual body language
- Something sounds fishy
- Overly defensive
- Changes subject easily
- Humor and Sarcasm
(These “warning signs” do not apply to those certain individuals who are capable of lying directly to your face without blinking and acting strange. Beware of them, they are dangerous!)
So, you better watch out for those friend liars and liars in general. That means yourself as well, a few lies here and there are common, but telling them all the time can lead to some trouble. Unless, you’re looking for trouble?
