ACE Class of 2009 day graduation on the steps.

ACE seniors will be graduating on June 16th 2009 at City Hall and on June 19th at DHS. The following students will be graduating from the Alternative Center for Excellence(ACE) : Ashley Armstrong, Tyana Collands, Jessica Coates, Phoebe Ermert, Emily Gieralt, Giovanni Gonzalez, Chanmor Khuth, Kendra McCall, Lumma Melo, Christopher Ogiste, Tiffany Ortiz, Jeordano Rodriguez, Amethyst Rosado, Rebecca Rosso, Iesha Scott, Jessica Siguenza, Vanessa Spruill, Nicole Stabile, Marlyn Tavares, Shannon Taylor, and Michael Tracey. The students explained to us what it was like at ACE, what they plan to do after graduating, and they gave some advice to the lower classman.

“I plan to attend WCSU next year,” says Christopher Ogiste, who is graduating this year. Christopher sends his regards to the lower classman. “Just try to stay focused on your work and keep showing up for school. Also, make sure you do Glenda’s work, cause she’ll hunt you down.”

“ACE was more like a family to me. We were there for each other through the good and the bad,” explains Jessica Siguenza. Most students here will agree that ACE is set up like a giant family, and the connection here spreads to every one at ACE. “A lot of growth and change comes here. I learned more about myself now in the school. I got more familiar with the school and I experienced a lot of fun activities and opportunities,“ said Jessica Coates as she explained what it was like for her at ACE. She tells students to “do your best and don’t slack off your work.”

“Keep your head up and never give up or let anyone tell you you can’t do something,” said Ashley, hoping to get through to students. High school is rough, and our minds and opinions are just starting to form. So, instead of letting others opinions get to you, she believes you should form your own.

The Alternative Center For Excellence has brought a lot of joy to the newly graduating seniors. Out of the twenty one students graduating, seven of them are going to NVCC, two are going to WCSU, one is going to Paul Mitchell, one is going to Clark University in NC, six are going to work, one is going to Zion College in MA, and one is going to the University Of Bridgeport. Either way, each of the students has a plan for success after graduating and ACE is proud of them
